Why is forest School a good option?
Forest school gives children the opportunity to develop necessary skills such as social emotional regulation and understanding, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and critical thinking all while in a unique outdoor setting. Studies have shown kids with a extended amount of outdoor time have better self awareness, sharper motor skills, and tend to injure themselves less frequently. Building healthy habits to last a lifetime starts at a young age and forest school is just one unique opportunity.

Where will my child go to the bathroom ?

What if the Weather is unsafe?
We are firm believers that we can have fun in all sorts of weather! Clothing choices directly affect how much fun is had. Our program is an ALL-OUTDOOR nature program and will be celebrating all the beautiful seasons Michigan has to offer. If it truly is unsafe to be outside due to high winds, extreme cold, or lightning class will be moved to an indoor location and families will be notified. In the event of a serious weather condition i.e tornadoes, extreme snowfall, or ice storms class will be cancelled for that day. While our goal is to learn in nature the most important thing is SAFETY.

Safety?
All staff members on site are trained in First Aid and CPR. We keep class sizes low to ensure students are well cared for and watched. If there is an incident an accident report will be written and caregivers will be notified immediately.
Generally kids who play outside more tend to have less injures due to understanding their capabilities.

What will they be learning?
A nature based curriculum that includes fundamental concepts like counting, comparing & contrasting, critical thinking, social & emotional skills, fine motor skills, large gross motor skills, and early reading and writing skills. We have a large focus on play based learning and child led learning. Which means we have a unique opportunity to focus on what the children are interested in and adjust our plans to support it.
